50 Mines Dismantled in Water Well in Hodeida

A landmine observatory in Yemen has said demining teams dismantled about 50 camouflaged explosive devices and mines in a water well in Hais district of Hodeida to the west of Yemen. The Observatory accused the Ansar Allah (Houthi) group of planting explosives and mines. According to UN reports, millions of landmines have been laid in multiple areas across Yemen, turning safe roads, neighborhoods, mountains, and pastures into dangerous spots.

Prime Minister Ma'een Abdulmalik arrived in Aden in the south of Yemen on Saturday, a move aimed at bringing all Yemeni officials to resume their duties from Aden City. Government sources said the prime minister arrived at Aden Airport this afternoon and headed to the government headquarters in al-Ma'ashiq Presidential Palace. Yemeni government officials fled Aden months back because of their disputes with southern separatists. 

Iran has slowed the build-up of enriched uranium, an American newspaper has reported. The newspaper said that Iran has significantly slowed the pace at which it is accumulating near-weapons-grade enriched uranium, and it has also diluted some of its stockpiles. The report follows the release of four Iranian-American prisoners by authorities in Tehran from Evin prison into house arrest on August 10.

An attack by Daesh group militants on Syrian government forces has killed 33 soldiers, a monitor said Saturday. The shooting Thursday evening on an army bus was the extremist group's deadliest attack on government forces this year, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The militants surrounded the bus in the desert near Mayadeen, in Deir Ezzor province, and opened fire, according to the Observatory. Daesh has maintained its presence in the Syrian desert, launching ambushes and hit-and-run attacks.
